- I am a teacher of grade one students at J R Walkof Elementary School. I have been teaching since 1989. In my first year I taught grades 2-4 students in a 2-room school in Osterwick. This position included some time as a Resource Teacher. My second year of teaching was at Winkler Elementary School, where I taught grade 1. In my third year of teaching I moved to the school where I am currently teaching, J.R. Walkof. My first assignment was a combined grades 1 and 2 class. The Vamcouver School Board defines a combined class as follows: What is a combined class? A combined or split class refers to a class that is made up of students from two or more grades. Combined classes occur most frequently in elementary schools and are the combination of students in two different grades with one teacher teaching both curricula. Since that time I have taught grade one most of the time, as well as combined classes and grade 2.
